The motorsport world council has already met, the focus of attention was the transformation of the current points system.
The plan was to drastically intervene in the system, but they ultimately rejected that. Instead, they will abolish the extra points system. It was introduced in 2019 for those drivers who finished in the top ten and set the fastest lap. It will no longer be there from 2025. At the beginning of the season, there was talk that instead of the current top 10, points would be awarded for positions 1-12 in the future.
This was ultimately rejected after current negotiations and, apart from the aforementioned change, the current system remains in force.
