There is increasing talk these days of a Max Verstappen transfer. With Red Bull's woes, Fernando Alonso has also expressed his opinion on the driver, who is increasingly being linked with Aston Martin.
The Spanish veteran might be worried about his position against the reigning world champion, but Alonso wouldn't be Alonso if he thought like that...
"I'm not worried about my place, I have an active contract until 2025. However, I consider these rumors a very encouraging sign, both from my own perspective and from the team's perspective. The fact that the world champion is most often associated with us next to Mercedes and Ferrari shows what a quality project we have and what a future awaits Aston Martin."
I myself will be on the track as long as I feel fast and competitive enough, and of course as long as the team needs me. But my commitment is long-term, I will be here for many more years, just maybe in a different position. If that means we don't win the world championship with me behind the wheel, I will still be very proud of that. And of course, if that were to happen, I would be very happy to have Max Verstappen as my teammate...” - the legend reflected.
