This was stated by the team's director, Mattia Binotto. The team, which will join Formula 1 in 2026, does not want to idle for long and wants to win the championship by the end of the decade.
It's a tough commitment, but with factory support behind the project, it's far from unimaginable:
"It's not just about climbing a mountain, it's about climbing Mount Everest itself. It will be a few years before we are truly successful, but our goal is clear: at the end of the decade we want to be in the fight for the championship. At the moment the difference is still big compared to what I saw at Ferrari, I can say that there is a gap between us. Infrastructure, numbers, thinking, we have to build a big team from a small one. Our performance in 2024 is exactly what it is because we are no longer focused on 2024, but on 2026. Our work, our developments, all our concentration is directed there.
"Audi entered Formula 1 to become a competitive member of the field. That will be true until we win, but also after. We think about long-term goals, we want to develop into a winning team and be useful members of the sport. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport and it is fantastic that Audi has finally committed to it," said the Italian expert.
