Is the Bahrain meeting actually a crisis meeting?

Bahrainská porada je ve skutečnosti krizovým jednáním?

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

It seems that the meeting with the team leaders is definitely not what it seems. So, the return of V10 engines is just icing on the cake, with the emphasis on firefighting in the background...

This was all hinted at by Mark Hughes, a veteran F1 columnist, who described exactly what he was thinking. According to Hughes, the weekend meeting was urgent because during the development of the 2026 engine formula, gaps have emerged between manufacturers, which could cause the series to spiral into a state of disarray that could make racing untrustworthy.

It is said that of the five engine manufacturers, one is in an exceptionally good position (according to Hughes, it is Mercedes), one is in a grey area, which means that nothing is known about it, the third will not be competitive with the chosen fuel, while the other two suppliers are at a very primitive level. Moreover, the problem is further escalated by the fact that most of the already developed engine and fuel elements that will be used from 2026 have already been homologated, which freezes the current performance order. And we have not yet mentioned the global economic crisis, which has an impact on everything - including this process. They would like to find a solution to this... Theoretically, the release of homologation could represent a chance, and it is still possible to intervene in the balance of energy emitted by the combustion electric motor. But does this represent a solution, or will it be enough just to be the calm before the storm...
