As we wrote last week, word has spread in Las Vegas that Andretti, who has been doomed to rejection until now, will interestingly appear on the grid in 2026.
And now it has been officially confirmed that the Formula 1 World Championship field will indeed expand! Here are the statements from those involved:
"The participation of General Motors and Cadillac in this project is a very important and positive proof and it is a step forward for the development of our sport. We are eagerly awaiting how the project will develop and grow, we are sure that everyone will help them." - said Stefano Domenicali.
“GM is an incredible global brand with amazing partnerships. I personally fully support the joint efforts of the FIA, Formula 1 and General Motors and we have already worked out an agreement to have the team at the start of the 2026 World Championship. The parties are committed and will work together to ensure this process runs smoothly,” said Mohammed ben Sulayem.
“The pinnacle of motorsport is F1 and as such it demands constant innovation from those who participate in it. It is an honor for GM and Cadillac to join this elite, we have long been committed to raising the level of our sport, F1, with passion and integrity. It is a huge global platform on which we can showcase GM’s expertise and leading technological influence.” - set the tone Mark Reuss, leader of the Americans.
