Loic Serra has joined Scuderia Ferrari and according to reports his results will soon be visible. The Ferrari, codenamed 677, will be a completely new design and in theory should be much more powerful in a single-seater.
Serra has a wealth of experience in vehicle dynamics, which he is looking to bring to the red model for 2025. The suspension components, torsion bars and shock absorbers are reportedly the most likely to change, with the aim of the 677 being able to make the most of the new Pirelli tyres at their highest operating range. Reducing overheating and allowing for better tyre handling for the more powerful single stages. That is the aim.
The 2024 car, the SF-24, had a good relationship with the tyres in the races, but during qualifying the drivers often struggled with grip and difficulty warming up. This often resulted in Scuderia Ferrari only being able to start from the back of the grid, even when they had the power to move up, and this dilemma is now being strongly addressed by the team led by Loic Serra. The changes incorporated into the 677 design are intended to rewrite the Ferrari's fundamental behaviour and their signs should be visible from the first control test, which will take place at Fiorano on 19 February.
