Rubber test: Leclerc's first "victory" over Hamilton

Gumový test: Leclercova první "vítězství" nad Hamiltonem

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

Although some press products claim that Lewis Hamilton was faster than Charles Leclerc at the Pirelli tire test held in Barcelona, Leclerc had the best time of the two days…

While last week the drivers tested wet tyres, now it's the turn of the slicks for 2026. As usual, Pirelli shared little meaningful information about the event, but the times were released. They even noted that they should be taken with a grain of salt, which is why the aforementioned emotional outburst is incomprehensible. Although Hamilton did indeed lead the first day of practice with the participation of Scuderia Ferrari and McLaren, considering today's time results - purely statistically - Charles Leclerc can be considered the winner. After various tactics, programs and distances, at the end of the two days Leclerc was fastest (1:14.971), followed by Oscar Piastre (1:15.815) and his teammate Lewis Hamilton (1:16.759).

In terms of laps completed, Piastri was the most productive (152 laps), followed by the Ferrari duo with 74 laps each. Pirelli has had a productive day, as everyone completed at least one lap of the Spanish Grand Prix today. The next race will be held on the 13th-14th in Jerez, where Alpine, Mercedes and McLaren will work.
