Do we still remember the days when McLaren relied on Lando Norris and proudly admitted it? Well, that's history, new winds have been blowing since then.
Johnny Herbert is well known for his sharp tongue, but there's no denying that his words always carry weight. Like now, in the case of Oscar Piastri:
"I think his mental toughness, composure, pace and tactics have been great this season. On the other hand, Lando Norris... Unfortunately, he makes a lot of mistakes. A perfect example is his recent crash in qualifying in Saudi Arabia. Well, of course, we can say that he was unlucky, but if someone makes a mistake at that pace, it's over. Is there a lot of pressure on him? Yes, but there is a lot on every driver, that's how Formula 1 is! Some people do it better and some people do it worse... The mistakes that Norris makes can really hurt the team's championship hopes in the long run, while Oscar Piastri has shown that he can surpass Max Verstappen. And in every way. That's why I think it's time to say that Oscar should be McLaren's first driver!”
