We all remember the chaos of last year's Brazilian Grand Prix, the delayed qualifying, the accidents. Well, it all had consequences...
That's why a new rule regarding F1 qualifying has been introduced. Regarding the quality we've already talked about, the most debated issue has been what happens if qualifying fails to take place, and how and on what basis the starting order will be determined.
The reaction to last year's events is that if a similar situation were to arise from 2025, i.e. a situation where it would be impossible to organize qualifying, the rule is that the pilots will start according to the current status of the individual world championship points.
And what if it happens at the first race of the season, when there is no world championship points standings yet? In that case, the starting order could be determined by the FIA race stewards. It is not yet known what guidelines will be used, but needless to say, this decision is causing incredible debate…
