Honda has opted out of F1 without really moving anywhere and will soon start another factory project, this time with Aston Martin Racing. So of course they will have an influence on who the Greens choose for their cars...
Honda Racing Corporation boss Koji Watanabe confirmed this and also hinted at who the favorites might be:
"The number of competitors is growing, but the number of places is limited. As a factory team, we will continue to play a significant role and have an influence on who the drivers will be who will drive our car in the project that we are implementing together with Aston Martin. Whoever it is, we are planning with them for the long term. We have our candidates and we both know them very well.
The team will have the final say, but the basic setup remains the same as it is now at Red Bull. We will have significant influence on key issues. I would also like to emphasize that it is a great pleasure for us to be able to work with Adrian Newey again, we will do everything to be competitive," said the boss, who knows both (i.e. Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda) very well.
