The difference was very minimal, the decision was very close, in the end Lawson became the winner thanks to the better race pace:
“The decision was extremely close because Yuki is a very fast driver. He has a lot of season experience, he performed exceptionally well in the tyre test in Abu Dhabi, the engineers still praise him for what they saw there. However, when we compared his data with Liam’s, we saw that his data was better than Tsunoda’s, especially in terms of race pace. Their qualifying results are almost the same, but there is no denying that Lawson has only done 11 races and it is certain that he will be much better and stronger with time.
"He is mentally strong, he has great resilience, but the most important thing is not to put too much pressure on him. He has to face the best driver of his generation, but he will do best if he completely ignores what is happening with Max Verstappen and focuses only on his task and his development. If he does that, he will be fine!" - said Christian Horner.
