Few laps, accidents, red flag interruptions, George Russell's success. In short, that's what happened during the first free practice of the Mexican Grand Prix.
For the 400th race weekend, Fernando Alonso, who had already recovered but was still only watching from the pits, and five young people took to FP1. Oliver Bearman was at Scuderia Ferrari, Robert Schwartzman at Staken, Felipe Drugovich at Aston Martin, Patricio O'Ward at McLaren and Andrea Kimi Antonelli was able to get behind the wheel of a Mercedes again. As soon as the circling started, a red flag was already declared due to debris on the track. Antonelli managed to pass it, the young Italian was lucky that his car was not damaged. As soon as the session resumed, it had to be interrupted again, this time Bearman and Alexander Albon did not understand each other, which resulted in a serious accident. Albon even stopped his car, but the Ferrari also got a good deal. And what else happened during practice? Nothing really special, this stage was won by George Russell ahead of Carlos Sainz and Yuki Tsunoda.
