This was hinted at by the Dutch star's father, Jos Verstappen, who revealed that he knows his son has a plan to step away from the F1 World Championship for a year as a trial:
"He still has a valid contract with Red Bull Racing until 2028, but after that nothing is certain. We'll see if F1 will still interest him... So far, throughout his career, everyone has always told him what and how to do. Now the moment is approaching when he will no longer listen to anyone, he will make decisions only for himself. It is certain that there is life outside Formula 1 and that excites Max very much.
"I think he could step down for a year, try something else, and then come back. I don't know what will happen yet, but one thing is for sure: he is not motivated to win seven or eight championships, he is not driven by records, he is more than satisfied with what he has achieved so far in his Formula 1 career," Verstappen's father said in a very interesting statement.
