Disgusting politics: Schumacher cannot be an honest citizen

Odporná politika: Schumacher nemůže být čestným občanem

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

If it weren't for Michael Schumacher, probably no one in the world would have been able to put Kerpen on the map. But Schumacher is, was and we hope will be - only the city government, which does not want to grant him honorary citizenship, should understand that.

This issue is not new, both experts and fans have been trying for a long time by various means to win this recognition for the seven-time world champion. In vain… Local politics have once again taken a stance as a kind of Christmas surprise, and they couldn't have done it in a more ugly way:

"There is no order of honor in Kerpen. The introduction of an order of honor and the associated title of honorary citizen is fully within the competence of the city council," said Mayor Dieter Spürck on this matter.

"On March 19, 2024, the city unanimously decided to postpone the issue of granting honorary citizenship to Michael Schumacher. The factions and independent councilors must first vote on whether we will introduce such a title. Since then, no proposal has been submitted on this matter." - explained the "first" man of Kerpen, whose colleagues supported this with remarks such as "it makes no sense at the moment" and "where does honorary citizenship begin and end"...

We don't have to comment on everything, you know our opinion anyway.
