In addition, Oscar Piastri has now become a challenger for the World Championship, as he is only three points behind his teammate, Lando Norris. Piastri has won four races in his career so far, with his most recent victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix setting an Australian national record.
Alan Jones achieved a similar feat in 1980 at the inaugural Argentine Grand Prix for Williams, the 329th race in the series' history, while last weekend's Bahrain race was the 1,129th, making it exactly 800 races before the Australian managed to repeat it. It's a great sign for Piastri that when Jones did it, he also won the world championship that year...
