After the Mexican Grand Prix, many are wondering if Carlos Sainz will really leave at the end of the season? He will indeed leave, with Lewis Hamilton taking his place, but Sainz is handling it all professionally, with his head held high.
And he leaves with memories of victory. He even says he would like to say goodbye to the constructors' title for Scuderia Ferrari:
"It's been a very special and challenging year for me. It started out difficult, we weren't very competitive, the development was slow, and then suddenly we got where we wanted to be. Suddenly we were fighting for victory again, but Charles Leclerc was able to take advantage of these opportunities, but I also really wanted to win. I told myself that I didn't want to leave Scuderia Ferrari without a victory. At the beginning of the year it would have been easy to lose motivation and the desire to finish it all. But fortunately there was a three-week break during which I was able to recharge, to become determined again. In the last five or six races I was able to improve, I improved my performance, I have more confidence in the car and I am proud of how I managed it. Now I am only motivated to win the constructors' championship. It would be the perfect farewell for me!" - declared the Spanish talent.
