Is it so that a competitor who messes up the starting procedure is penalized X amount, while another who swears is penalized double? The competitors in their professional organization have collectively had enough of this!
The FIA has been going a bit overboard with its nonsense lately, which has sparked a backlash not only from fans. The racing association, led by George Russell, sent an open letter to the FIA president:
"We are professional drivers who race in Formula 1, the pinnacle of international motorsport. We are gladiators, we give the fans a special show every race weekend. When it comes to obscene language, there is a huge difference between wanting to offend someone and, for example, talking about the weather in inappropriate terms, or about our stationary car, or making inappropriate comments about the racing situation."
"We would therefore like to ask the FIA President, Mohamed Ben Sulayem, to consider his tone and language when speaking to us or about us, whether in a private conversation or a public forum. We are adults who do not need to be instructed by the media, especially not on such mundane matters as what to say, or what to wear or not wear..." - Russell and his team said firmly.
