Sprint qualifying for the US Grand Prix took place on Friday and Saturday, with Max Verstappen proving to be the fastest.
In SQ1 we saw a 12-minute non-stop race, during which the front was constantly changing. Max Verstappen, Kevin Magnussen, Lewis Hamilton and others exchanged the lead. In the end, Charles Leclerc won this stage, overtaking the aforementioned Hamilton and Verstappen, while surprisingly Oscar Piastri, Esteban Ocon, Alexander Albon and, traditionally, both Alfa Romeos were among the eliminated.
In SQ2, the picture of the game did not change much: Ferrari finished in the lead, this time Carlos Sainz was the fastest, followed by Verstappen and Hamilton. Among those who dropped out, two names were worth remembering, Sergio Pérez and Liam Lawson. While the first one is failing miserably in a car suitable for winning the world championship, the second one, after many absences in VISA RB, also easily reaches this level... And by the way, two Aston Martins and Pierre Gasly also said goodbye.
In SQ3 it looked like George Russell could be the winner for a long time, and only his teammate Hamilton or a Ferrari could threaten him. In the end, that was not the case, Max Verstappen found some extra time somewhere and won the sprint time trial ahead of George Russell and Charles Leclerc!
